Privacy Policy for RecordWise2
RecordWise2 — Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
RecordWise2 is a free app that records audio, transcribes it via Microsoft Azure AI Speech, and summarizes the transcript via Microsoft Foundry / Azure OpenAI, using the Microsoft Azure subscription and credentials you supply in the app's Settings screen.
The app is published by Eason Lai (One in a Minion, the "developer") and ships with no backend server of its own. All processing of your audio and transcripts happens on (a) your device or (b) Microsoft Azure resources
that belong to you.

2. How RecordWise2 collects data
- Microphone audio is captured by your device's OS only while a recording is active (you tap the Record button and see the red indicator). On macOS / iOS / Android you must first grant microphone permission via the system prompt.
- Credentials and preferences are typed in by you on the Settings screen.
There is no background recording and no automatic data collection of any kind.
---
3. Where your audio and transcripts are sent
RecordWise2 sends data over HTTPS directly from your device to Microsoft Azure endpoints that you configure. There is no intermediate developer-controlled server.
Stage: Transcription
Service: Microsoft Azure AI Speech — Fast Transcription
What is sent: Your audio file
Region: The Azure region of your Speech resource (chosen by you)
Stage: Summary

The app supports any Azure region available to your subscription (e.g. `eastus`, `southeastasia`, `swedencentral`, etc.).
---
4. Who controls your data after it leaves the device
Once data reaches Microsoft Azure, Microsoft processes it under the agreement you have with Microsoft for your own Azure subscription:
- Microsoft Online Services Privacy Statement - https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
- Microsoft Online Services Terms (Product Terms) - https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/terms/product/ForOnlineServices/all)
- Microsoft Data Protection Addendum (DPA) - https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/docs/view/Microsoft-Products-and-Services-Data-Protection-Addendum-DPA
By default, Azure AI Speech and Azure OpenAI process inputs to deliver the service and do not use customer content to train Microsoft models. For exact retention, residency, abuse-monitoring, and data-handling behavior of those services, see their official Microsoft documentation. The **app developer has no server, no logging, no analytics, and no way to read or recover your audio, transcripts, summaries, or credentials.
---
5. What is stored on your device
RecordWise2 stores the following locally using the Hive database on your device:
- Your Azure credentials (endpoints, keys, region, deployment, API
versions, max-speaker setting) — in a Hive box named
`user_settings`.
- Your saved transcription sessions (original audio file reference
if any, transcript text, summary text, metadata) — in a Hive box
named `transcriptions`.
- Your privacy-consent timestamp (see section 7).
Local data is never sent to the developer. You can wipe it by:
- Tapping Settings → Clear all saved credentials for credentials.
- Deleting saved sessions one-by-one from the Results History screen.
- Uninstalling the app to remove everything.
---
6. Children
RecordWise2 is not intended for use by children under 8. The app does not knowingly collect data from children.
---
7. Your consent
The first time you tap Record or upload a file, RecordWise2 shows a disclosure dialog explaining that audio and transcripts will be sent to Microsoft Azure. Recording / uploading does **not** start unless
you tap "I Agree". Your consent (a timestamp) is stored locally on the device. You can revoke it at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data Sharing → Revoke Consent, which will cause the disclosure dialog to reappear before the next recording or upload.

8. Contact
Questions, concerns, or requests about this policy can be sent to oneinaminion@minions.app.

This policy applies to the RecordWise2 mobile app published by Eason Lai (One in a Minion). It does not cover Microsoft's own services, which are governed by your separate agreement with Microsoft.
